2024-01-30pgcrypto: Fix check for buffer sizeDaniel Gustafsson
The code copying the PGP block into the temp buffer failed to account for the extra 2 bytes in the buffer which are needed for the prefix. If the block was oversized, subsequent checks of the prefix would have exceeded the buffer size. Since the block sizes are hardcoded in the list of supported ciphers it can be verified that there is no live bug here. Backpatch all the way for consistency though, as this bug is old. 2020-09-25Remove custom memory allocation layer in pgcryptoMichael Paquier
PX_OWN_ALLOC was intended as a way to disable the use of palloc(), and over the time new palloc() or equivalent calls have been added like in 32984d8, making this extra layer losing its original purpose. This simplifies on the way some code paths to use palloc0() rather than palloc() followed by memset(0). 2019-10-24Make the order of the header file includes consistent in contrib modules.Amit Kapila
The basic rule we follow here is to always first include 'postgres.h' or 'postgres_fe.h' whichever is applicable, then system header includes and then Postgres header includes.  In this, we also follow that all the Postgres header includes are in order based on their ASCII value.  We generally follow these rules, but the code has deviated in many places. This commit makes it consistent just for contrib modules. The later commits will enforce similar rules in other parts of code. 2019-05-22Phase 2 pgindent run for v12.Tom Lane
Switch to 2.1 version of pg_bsd_indent. This formats multiline function declarations "correctly", that is with additional lines of parameter declarations indented to match where the first line's left parenthesis is. 2017-06-21Initial pgindent run with pg_bsd_indent version 2.0.Tom Lane
The new indent version includes numerous fixes thanks to Piotr Stefaniak. The main changes visible in this commit are: * Nicer formatting of function-pointer declarations. * No longer unexpectedly removes spaces in expressions using casts, sizeof, or offsetof. * No longer wants to add a space in "struct structname *varname", as well as some similar cases for const- or volatile-qualified pointers. * Declarations using PG_USED_FOR_ASSERTS_ONLY are formatted more nicely. * Fixes bug where comments following declarations were sometimes placed with no space separating them from the code. * Fixes some odd decisions for comments following case labels. * Fixes some cases where comments following code were indented to less than the expected column 33. On the less good side, it now tends to put more whitespace around typedef names that are not listed in typedefs.list. This might encourage us to put more effort into typedef name collection; it's not really a bug in indent itself. There are more changes coming after this round, having to do with comment indentation and alignment of lines appearing within parentheses. I wanted to limit the size of the diffs to something that could be reviewed without one's eyes completely glazing over, so it seemed better to split up the changes as much as practical. 2016-03-09pgcrypto: support changing S2K iteration countAlvaro Herrera
pgcrypto already supports key-stretching during symmetric encryption, including the salted-and-iterated method; but the number of iterations was not configurable. This commit implements a new s2k-count parameter to pgp_sym_encrypt() which permits selecting a larger number of iterations. Author: Jeff Janes
2015-05-18pgcrypto: Report errant decryption as "Wrong key or corrupt data".Noah Misch
This has been the predominant outcome. When the output of decrypting with a wrong key coincidentally resembled an OpenPGP packet header, pgcrypto could instead report "Corrupt data", "Not text data" or "Unsupported compression algorithm". The distinct "Corrupt data" message added no value. The latter two error messages misled when the decrypted payload also exhibited fundamental integrity problems. Worse, error message variance in other systems has enabled cryptologic attacks; see RFC 4880 section "14. Security Considerations". Whether these pgcrypto behaviors are likewise exploitable is unknown. In passing, document that pgcrypto does not resist side-channel attacks. Back-patch to 9.0 (all supported versions). Security: CVE-2015-3167
2015-01-30Fix Coverity warning about contrib/pgcrypto's mdc_finish().Tom Lane
Coverity points out that mdc_finish returns a pointer to a local buffer (which of course is gone as soon as the function returns), leaving open a risk of misbehaviors possibly as bad as a stack overwrite. In reality, the only possible call site is in process_data_packets() which does not examine the returned pointer at all. So there's no live bug, but nonetheless the code is confusing and risky. Refactor to avoid the issue by letting process_data_packets() call mdc_finish() directly instead of going through the pullf_read() API. Although this is only cosmetic, it seems good to back-patch so that the logic in pgp-decrypt.c stays in sync across all branches. Marko Kreen
2014-11-11Loop when necessary in contrib/pgcrypto's pktreader_pull().Tom Lane
This fixes a scenario in which pgp_sym_decrypt() failed with "Wrong key or corrupt data" on messages whose length is 6 less than a power of 2. Per bug #11905 from Connor Penhale. Fix by Marko Tiikkaja, regression test case from Jeff Janes.
