Canvas Public URL Sharing​

You can now generate public URLs for Canvas dashboards, just like Explore dashboards. Share Canvas views with external stakeholders without requiring them to log in.

Dynamic Y-Axis Scale for Measure Charts​

Measure charts now support dynamic y-axis scaling, so charts default to a zero-based origin but can toggle to a dynamic y-axis. This makes it easier to spot trends and variations in your data.

Delta Lake / Iceberg Connector​

Canvas Generation from Metrics Views​

You can now generate a full Canvas dashboard directly from an existing metrics view using the developer agent. This makes it easier than ever to go from a metrics definition to a rich, customizable Canvas dashboard.

View as Project Home​

You can now set any view—such as an Explore or Canvas dashboard—as the project home page. When users navigate to the project, they'll land directly on the chosen view instead of the default status page.

Supabase Connector​

We've added a new Supabase connector, making it easy to connect to your Supabase database and bring that data into Rill.

Project Status Tables Page​

The project status page now includes a dedicated Tables tab, giving you visibility into the tables in your OLAP database directly from the Rill Cloud UI.

New Project Status Page​

We have massively overhauled the status page for projects within Rill Cloud. You can now easily search, filter, and find resources—for example, those that are erroring—as well as get full access to logs without having to use the CLI.

Scatter Plot in Canvas​

The Scatter Plot has arrived for Canvas Dashboards! It's a great visualization for seeing the correlation of a dimension across two measures. It also features zooming in and out, as well as the ability to pan around the scatter plot area.

Model Exports​

We're proud to introduce the ability to export data from Rill on a continuous basis. You can now set up scheduled exports of models to object storage such as S3 and GCS, exporting models from Rill as parquet files for downstream processing.

Alternate Time Dimension Selection​

You can now select an alternative time dimension directly in Explore dashboards! Switch between different timestamps (e.g., created_at vs updated_at) without modifying your metrics view definition. The time dimension picker is available in the time range dropdown, and all time-dependent queries automatically update to use your selected dimension.

Dark Mode​

We are now introducing dark mode to the entire product! Switch between light and dark mode from your profile, upload a dark mode variant of your logo and use custom themes prepared for dark mode! Oh, if you are embedding Rill you also have the ability to toggle dark mode as part of the Embed API.

With the introduction of dark mode some theme properties have changed, your existing themes are backwards compatible but we do recommend you start using the new property names going forward. You can find those by creating a new theme and the default file will have all the new property names populated for you.

Comparison in Canvas Charts​

StarRocks Driver Support​

We've added support for StarRocks as a live connector! You can now connect directly to your StarRocks data warehouse and query data in real-time without needing to ingest it into Rill first. This expands our support for enterprise data warehouses alongside our existing connectors for ClickHouse, Druid, Pinot, and more. A big thank you to our community contributor!

Geospatial Dimensions​

We've added support for geospatial dimensions in metrics views! You can now work with geographic data types and create location-based analytics. Rill validate​

We have added a new cli command, rill validate, that allows you validate a project. Very useful in CI/CD flows when you want to run tests on PRs before pushing to production.

Default Filters for Canvas​

Set up default filters and pin your most important dimensions for quick access! When you're working with large metrics views, it can be a daunting task to sift through all the available dimensions and measures. With default filters, you can build Canvas dashboards that automatically set filters on dimensions by default and pin the ones that matter most—so your users don't have to hunt for them!

Dynamic Markdown​

We're introducing dynamic content in Markdown components! You can now template Metrics SQL queries directly into your Canvas dashboard that automatically react to user filters, creating a fully dynamic markdown experience. Want to take it even further? You can render HTML too! Plus, we're making the backend endpoint public so you can easily build your own programs and workflows that need access to templated data.

Pivot Display Limits​

Introducing a toggle to limit the number of dimensional rows that are visible in the pivot table. This allows you to reduce the cognitive load when interacting with a pivot table. Note that this is a display limit only, totals, exports and reports still operate on the full dataset.

Query Attributes​

If you're using ClickHouse, you can now append query attributes that access dynamic user attributes. This is super useful if you want to send along, for example, a user ID or email to route or filter views in ClickHouse based on Rill user context. Or if you want to build your own usage reporting based on queries issued to your ClickHouse instance.

Explain Anomalies​

You can now highlight a time range in an Explore dashboard and have the AI explain anomalies in that time period. This is useful to quickly gain insights into drops or increases in metrics and get a detailed summary as to why a metric is moving in a certain direction.

Dashboard Chat​

Chat in Rill Cloud now has access to full dashboard context, including filters, time ranges, and dimension selections. This allows AI to provide more relevant and accurate responses based on exactly what you're viewing in your dashboard.

We have made it possible to generate test data using AI when working in Rill Developer. This is super useful to quickly get up and running, prototype a dashboard, or test out a new feature with demo data!

MCP OAuth Authentication​

Charts in AI chat​

Dark Mode for Rill Developer​

Dark Mode is now enabled by default in Rill Developer. We've carefully refined connector icons, chart palettes, and UI elements so everything looks great in both light and dark themes. Choose How Your Reports Are Delivered​

We've added more flexibility to how you share reports with your team and stakeholders. You can now choose between two delivery modes when creating a report:

Recipient Mode is perfect for internal distribution lists and team members who need personalized access. When you send a report in Recipient mode, each person who clicks the link will be prompted to log in, and they'll see the dashboard with their own access permissions applied. This means if someone shouldn't see certain data based on your security policies, they won't—even though everyone received the same report link. It's a great way to share insights across your organization while maintaining data governance.

Creator Mode (the default) is ideal when you're sharing reports with external partners, clients, or anyone who doesn't have a Rill account. Recipients get a link to view the dashboard with your permissions, but locked to the specific filters and time range you set when creating the report. No login required, no hassle—just instant access to the exact view you want them to see. They can also download the data directly from the email, making it easy to work with the insights offline.

Dynamic Height for Embedded Dashboards​

If you've embedded Rill dashboards into your applications, you know the pain of dealing with double scrollbars—one for your page, one for the iframe. We've solved that with a new dynamic height feature.

Simply append dynamic_height=true to your embed URL, and the dashboard will automatically size itself to fit its content and emit resize events whenever the dashboard changes size. This lets you dynamically adjust your iframe height to perfectly match the dashboard, creating a seamless, native-feeling experience in your application. No more awkward scrollbars within scrollbars!

Introducing AI Agents for Rill​

We've been working hard over the last couple of months to bring an agentic AI workflow to Rill. Building on our existing MCP (Model Context Protocol) server integration, we're now introducing project-wide chat in Rill, which is our first interactive agent of many to come.

The project agent helps you quickly analyze data, ask open-ended questions, and have the AI spot patterns and anomalies in your datasets. But it's not just a chatbot—you always have a dashboard ready to back up any responses from the AI. New Time Syntax​

We’re excited to announce a major release: a brand-new time syntax in the product.
Until now, time ranges relied on ISO durations, such as P7D to represent the previous seven days. While standard, ISO durations introduced ambiguity around complete periods, the handling of latest data, and felt rigid for users defining their own time ranges.

To address these challenges, we designed an entirely new syntax for expressing time. This syntax is now available across the product and gives you precise control over time ranges, grains, and reference points.

Multiple Metrics and Combo Chart​

Use the Embed API with Canvas​

Measure Annotations​

Introducing the ability to annotate points in time on your measures! Add metadata to your measures, such as events that could explain why a metric is moving in a certain direction. Highlight data gaps, related activities, or national holidays. You can annotate individual points in time, ranges of time, or even specific durations such as weeks or quarters. Your time series charts are now even easier to understand!

Funnel Charts​

We are adding funnel charts as a new chart type to Canvas dashboards. Funnel charts are ideal for visualizing process flows such as sales or marketing pipelines. More enhancements are coming soon, including support for uneven funnels, also known as violin plots, to enable visualizations such as population pyramids.

Navigate to Explore in Canvas​
