mounting Alpine linux read write on boot

After following Alpine installation very closely, the system doesn't want to be mounted read write on boot. There are no errors in the logs. 2.3 Compatibility flag was used when creating the pool. The cachefile is unset, which might be the issue. How do I set a persistent cachefile?

Do you have rw on the kernel command line for your boot environment? Cachefiles are there to help speed up discovering / importing a pool, they don't control the mount options of datasets.

Seems like it doesn't require a command line argument to work. The issue was resolved by creating a normal artix linux installation alongside alpine. I can't imagine why.
