Hm... I'm not sure now why this was added. At first I thought it was required by our Rollup config but I guess that's not the case because scheduler is one of our known globals.
Maybe this was meant to signal the fact that the dependency exists, conceptually? I don't know.

I checked the history to figure out why it was originally added as a dep. It looks like it was because the UMD build of
reactincludes Scheduler inline instead of treating it as an external: #13509We may need to reconsider our UMD strategy later once the public Scheduler API is stable. (Personally I would prefer to drop UMD support entirely.)
Regardless we can remove it from
package.json. I confirmed that the UMD bundle still includes Scheduler.
