Format of the meetup. Introductions.
- Who are you?
- Have done OpenSource or New?
- Your goal. Here to learn a new framework or language? Or how to contribute?
Pair up. If possible we will pair up people new to Open Source with people who have contributed before. Choose a project.
- As a group or as pairs pick a project
- Check the recent activity of the project
- Check for open Issues. Well explained issues can be easier to get into
- Fork the repository into the https://github.com/PerthHackers repositories
- Clone that repository to your computer and get familiar with the code
- Build the project and see if you can get it to run
- Engage with the contributors.
- Feedback on any issues you hit getting set up can be invaluable
