Golden Retriever Refuses To Walk Unless His Girlfriend Is Right Beside Him
Humans often talk about the butterflies they feel in their stomachs when they’re around someone they love. Apparently, dogs can feel that way, too, but they have to show it a little differently.
Zebby, the Golden Retriever, recently shared his feelings for his girlfriend in the cutest way possible. The pups are having a sleepover weekend, and while out for a walk, Zebby absolutely refused to walk ahead of his lady friend, even putting the brakes on mid-stride to let her catch up.
His mom wrote in the caption of her Instagram video, “My dog’s girlfriend is staying with us, and now he refuses to walk if she’s even SLIGHTLY out of sight.” As the duo heads down the road, Zebby stops short and resists the tug on his leash, waiting for his dad and his girl to catch up.

Only after they are out in front can the Golden Retriever settle into the walk. Zebby is truly a gentleman for putting his girl out in front of him. It’s the equivalent of holding the door for your date, only in dog talk!

Viewers Can’t Get Enough of These Two Golden Retrievers
Although many followers likened Zebby’s need to put his girlfriend first to chivalry, others put a humorous spin on the whole event. Instagram user @taterboybasch joked, “Gotta make sure he can keep an eye on the floofy booty!” and @arywidyasari called Zebby a “Green flag dog!”
Then @cocolepup pointed out, “The kind of man who wouldn’t let his girl walk on the side of the street closest to cars!” While @saffronseen suggested, “He wants to bring up the rear of the pack so he can handle unexpected threats from behind. Great pack dynamics and mechanics with that boy!”
I think we can all agree that Zebby has the right idea, showing that manners aren’t lost when it comes to his favorite girl. He’s such a sweetheart!
