Golden Retriever Puppy Hilariously Attempts To Learn How To Use Stairs

For puppies who are new to the world, everything is a learning experience—even the daily tasks we don’t think twice about, like walking downstairs after waking up in the morning. It’s second nature to us, but for our tiniest four-legged friends, it can be a bit of a challenge.

Dale, the Golden Retriever puppy, is doing his best to figure out the stairs, though… and while his progress isn’t exactly linear, he does look really cute trying.

From this compilation, it looks like Dale’s biggest problem is speed… and maybe a little bit of puppy clumsiness (though that part, he’ll certainly grow out of).

My favorite part is when he appears to get mad at the stairs when he starts sliding down them too fast. Buddy, that’s your fault, not the stairs’ fault!

As one commenter wrote, “He’s so p*ssed like he’s not the one launching his body down the stairs.” That pretty much sums up his attitude, but that also just makes his attempts even cuter. It’s like he wants to know who’s making these stairs so difficult.

This cute Golden puppy is doing his best, though. Even when he brings his Lamb Chop toy with him!

Dale Has Been Working on His Stairs Skills for a While

At this point in his career as a puppy, there’s a very good chance that Dale is simply too full of energy to really take the stairs like a regular individual… but that’s OK, because watching him do it his way is just too cute.

Case in point: This video of what his mom called his “morning sploots” down the stairs.

It’s impressive when he manages to bring a toy down those stairs with him, isn’t it? But still, he ends up sliding almost every time.

My theory is that it’s more fun for him to slide down the stairs, and he has no intention of learning how to actually take them one step at a time. Who are we humans to tell him he’s doing it wrong?
