Apocalypse Z: New World Trailer Officially Brings Back Prime Video’s Popular Movie Franchise
Prime Video has released the first action-packed teaser for Apocalypse Z: New World. The sequel to 2024’s Spanish zombie thriller comes from director Carles Torrens, who also helmed the original film. Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End became Prime Video’s most-watched international Original movie, behind only Your Fault.
The sequel will follow survivors battling hordes of infected after the TSJ virus devastates Europe, with the Canary Islands becoming the continent’s last refuge. Its story follows Roberto, a new recruit joining the supply expedition who has “questionable intentions,” according to the synopsis. It doesn’t take long for Roberto and his companions to find themselves caught between hordes of zombies, with the tense situation testing their loyalties.

What happens in the Apocalypse Z: New World trailer?
The short teaser trailer starts with the fan-favorite cat Lúculo walking around what appears to be a crashed helicopter in Madrid. A radio transmission reveals that the crew was tasked with securing cargo routes between the mainland and the islands. A group of survivors is shown armed and prepared to face an ambush by a large group of zombies. The teaser doesn’t reveal anything else.

The film stars Carlos Alcaide, Julia Martínez, Mónica López, Tamara Casellas, and Santiago Vaca Narvaja. José María Yazpik of Narcos fame reprises his role as Pritchenko from the first film. Berta Vázquez also returns as Lucía, while Pedrito reprises his role as Lúculo, the cat. New cast members include Axel Medrano, Pedro Hernández, Javier Godino, Ujin Moreno, and Mario Mayo.
Like the first film, New World is inspired by Spanish author Manel Loureiro’s work. Loureiro has written and published three Apocalypse Z novels, with the last book released in 2011. Since then, the author has focused on writing supernatural thrillers, with his most recent book being 2024’s When the Storm Passes. The upcoming film is written by Ángel Agudo.
Apocalypse Z: New World premieres at the Sitges Film Festival on October 10, 2026, followed by its worldwide Prime Video debut on October 30, 2026.
